Translation notes 3

7:1–11 — Dedication and transport. The dedication narrative returns to the setting up and anointing of the dwelling. The wagons are allocated according to each Levite group’s work; the Kohathites carry sacred objects on their shoulders.

7:12–88 — Twelve full offerings. The repeated lists are part of the source and give each leader and tribe an individual presentation. All twelve lists are translated in full, including identical weights, animals, and offering types. Shekels measure weight, not minted coins.

7:89 — The speaking voice. The voice comes from above the atonement cover between the cherubim, as in Exodus 25:22. The Hebrew ends with “he spoke to him”; “it spoke to him” takes the voice as the subject without assigning an additional speaker.
