Acts 3
1Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2A man lame from his mother's womb was being carried there. They placed him every day at the temple gate called Beautiful to ask for gifts from those entering the temple. 3Seeing Peter and John about to enter the temple, he asked to receive a gift. 4Peter, looking intently at him with John, said, “Look at us.” 5He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them. 6But Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you: in the name of Jesus the Messiah of Nazareth, walk.” 7Taking him by the right hand, he raised him up. Immediately his feet and ankles became strong. 8Leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9All the people saw him walking and praising God. 10They recognized him as the one who used to sit asking for gifts at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with wonder and astonishment at what had happened to him.
11While he held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's, utterly astonished. 12When Peter saw this, he answered the people, “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this, or why do you look intently at us, as though by our own power or devotion we had made him walk? 13The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and denied before Pilate, though he had decided to release him. 14But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15and you killed the founder of life, whom God raised from the dead. We are witnesses of this. 16Through faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know; and the faith that is through him has given him this complete soundness before you all.
17“And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your rulers. 18But in this way God fulfilled what he announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer. 19So repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away, 20that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and he may send the Messiah appointed for you, Jesus, 21whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago. 22Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to him in everything he tells you. 23And every soul that does not listen to that prophet will be destroyed from among the people.’ 24All the prophets from Samuel onward, as many as have spoken, also announced these days. 25You are sons of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘In your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.’ 26God raised up his servant and sent him to you first, to bless you by turning each of you from your evil ways.”
